The VELECTRIX E-Bike system has been developed to suit New Zealand terrain and conditions.

In the year 2000 in our factory in the UK we tested the most up to date E-Bike technology available on the hilly Welsh countryside which was the closest to our familiar New Zealand landscape. The system used then was a front wheel hub motor powered then by a large lead acid battery.

• The system was heavy with the lead acid battery almost heavier than the bike !
• The hub motor physically was large and heavy but performed well larger than a dinner plate in circumference!

NiCAD batteries were available but cost prohibitive, lead acid batteries other than being heavy were subject to the normal problems of discharge  and memory.

We felt that technolgy would catch up and put our project on hold......technology now has, we are back in New Zealand and have developed a system that is unobstrusive on the bike we have developed the Velomaster VELECTRIX  E-Bike System.

• The rear hub motor has a disc brake and takes 7 speed 36v 250w.
• The battery system being the latest LiPO4 is efficient ,you can charge it anytime and it can be fully discharged without memory loss
• The LiPO4 batteries weigh in from approximately a little under 3kgs to 4.5 depending on the AH rating chosen.
• The hub motor is brushless and quiet at 2.5kgs
• You can ride the bike effortlessly with the motor turned off.

The Rear disc -Brake kit can be installed on any bike we just need to know the wheel size

• 20" wheel ,we do have the 80mm kit for folding bikes
• 26" wheel
• 700c wheel
• The kits include throttle and pedelec features with LCD readouts and brake cutout.included is the built rear wheel.

WARNING There are some systems and kits being offered to the NZ market that do not "comply" these kits have excessive speeds and are heavy..... meaning conventional bicycle braking systems are in danger of not coping with the extra loading on the frames and forks.
